Destiny Legwarmers on Ravelry
Back in my early knitting days, I fell in love with Twilley’s Freedom Spirit yarn — 100% wool, in glorious shades — and bought some for accessories. The first were my Destiny Wrist Warmers, which I finished in March 2008 and still wear to this day, whenever the weather turns or my wrists are aching and need some comfort. Since I enjoyed knitting those, I figured I would also knit up the matching legwarmers, as I had enough yarn to do so.
…And then I discovered that 2×2 rib can get pretty monotonous and boring and oh, look! Lace! *runs off distractedly*
Anyways, these legwarmers soon became my go-to hospital knitting — quick, easy to pick up/put down, and very forgiving of being shoved in bags at a moment’s notice, this project only appeared as-and-when I found myself in waiting rooms for a time. They were worked flat on 4mm needles, and then sewn up using mattress stitch. I like them, but probably not as much as my wrist warmers — in fact, these are probably only for cozy days at home, when I’m slummin’ it around the house. And that’s okay — a girl’s gotta have some comfort clothes, right? :)
Here’s a few more pictures (model shots, oh my!) for your delight — and you can click to enlarge if you like:
